Tucked away in the heart of Portland, Zach Brown crafts drowsy melodies and lush melancholic songs in a simple studio in a small bedroom. Growing up in the cold, dark interior of the Alaskan arctic has shaped gloomy lyrics and evocative emotions that come to the fore of the music, and it is apparent that he concerns himself with exploring the quieter side of pop. Brown repeatedly expresses the abandoned times in life, and explores a quiet feeling that is expansive at times and even cinematic, while never losing its sense of intimacy or honesty. This is a welcome arrival for fans of Mineral, Kind Of Like Spitting, and Bright Eyes.
