Soothing, gentle, callous, and unforgiving it's in these contrasts Yellow Bird, a.k.a. Joshua Evans, firmly plants himself. With his unique and often unconventional songwriting he knits together stories of heartache, sings songs of hope, and sometimes just tells you how he sees it. Brought up in an unstable, almost nomadic, environment Joshua has learned how to let go of things most people hold on to. This is evident in the way he disregards genres and preconceived ideas about the art of song. He began playing guitar when he was sixteen, "I found an old Harmony box guitar in a closet, and it had a Mel Bay's Chord Book with it. It didn't take long until I was figuring out songs off of the radio, and a few months later I wrote my fist song. I was hooked." Joshua has continued to write songs at an amazing rate, and shows no sign of letting up. "I get a bit nervous everytime I write a new song, and have an irrational fear that every song will be my last. Then I sit down and write like three more songs in an hour." He has played all over Louisiana and Texas, and plans to expand his toured area in 2007 and 2008. Joshua has played everything from churches to bars, and again thrives in these types of contrasts. Yellow Bird has released countless homemade CDs, and under a few different monikers over the last five years. Now, he has joined up with Old House Records and will be releasing an official record sometime in 2008.
