A couple of years ago, I (Michael) acquired an Indian instrument known as a Bulbul Tarang. When I learned that the name translates as "Waves of Nightingales", I decided to use it as the basis for a new musical project.

I also am currently a member of the duo One Human Minute (with Paul Dickow, aka Strategy) and I have recently started playing in the group Smoke and Mirrors (and also occasional shows as an adjunct member of the band Moodring . I was part of the long-running but now defunct psych group group the MomeRaths, as well as the chaotic fireball that was Space Hawk. Reaching back further, I have been a part of A John Henry Memorial, , and Entertainment. I have also appeared on recordings by some friends, namely The Plants, Rollerball, and Nudge.

Recently I've been joined by my wife, Sarah (Smoke and Mirrors, Two Oboes, Space Hawk) in pursuit of the nightingales.

In addition to the bulbul tarang and a bunch of effects pedals we have used saxonette, oboe, and percussion.
