Willowfair began as a husband and wife project in 2004. After playing for a year in the Chicago area for bands such as "The Wayside" and "Cool Hand Luke," Willowfair joined up with twin sisters Joy and Priscilla Deen (violin and cello), rounding out their hauntingly beautiful sound. In February of '06, the band went into the studio with producer Benjie Hughes (Backthird Audio in Aurora, IL) to record their debut record, "The Lie Within."

Upon its regional release in December of '07, "The Lie Within" received strong critical acclaim from Andre Salles of the Aurora Beacon News arts column. The album was also listed as one of the top 15 records of 2007 by renowned Chicago artist Ben Thomas. In July of 2008, three of the band's songs ("Last Dance," "I Speak," and "No More") were licensed by the Beacon News for a three-day internet series, "A Flight to Remember." Willowfair has also been regularly featured at The Union in Naperville, IL during Local Band Showcases.

Willowfair's live performances are captivating, immediately commanding the attention of any room the band plays. They are influenced by artists such as Sigur Ros, Over the Rhine and Radiohead. Willowfair's music is both grand and fragile--dark, yet hopeful. Their lyrics expose the lies that they believe, while also celebrating the life they have been given. "The Lie Within" is available for purchase at willowfair.com.

I wish more music would return to such elegant roots. Classical piano, string and your dynamic voices make for one intoxicating experience.
