Sometime during the tour, I think it was in Chicago, we all came to realize that something about what we were doing had changed. We didn't feel alone anymore. I didn't.
So we're calling it Sleepover. No one has yet figured out a good way to talk about it. It's complicated. It's sort of a band, a label, a group, a group of bands, a principle, a group of projects, a bunch of friends, an experiment, an intangible idea, a family, a name, etc.
We've only played as Sleepover once, sort of, at the Two Pines show a few days ago. But it's strange because it seems now days like everything is Sleepover.
The Absent Arch is still going strong, I'm playing bass and singing a few harmonies with them.
As for Will Garrison, we're working on a band name. I'm just not comfortable anymore playing as Will Garrison when I'm the only one with the name. James has become an essential part of the project as he is playing just as big a role as myself. But, along with James, the project has grown into this malleable thing. Will Markwardt is also singing, harmonies and doubling with me. Brian has been filling out the sound with the trumpet and flugelhorn, a sound that I've always wished for and envisioned, Waldo's been ringing out the melodies with the empathetic viola, and I think for the first time, at the Two Pines show, we saw Anthony really solve the conundrum of adding drums to these songs.
I really couldn't be in a better place. Jason is going to be coming down this winter and working with us. He will no doubt add an unquantifiable presence to this whole idea and sound throughout. We've talked about the accordion, but I know that the banjo, mandolin, and ukulele will be there, just like the old days. We'll then be planning a tour for the spring, along with a possible show in England in early summer.
We've got a website that will be the central point of interaction with all of us up and running. It's still in development at the moment but you can sign up to be notified when we get things all finished. The plan is to offer every live recording for free on the site along with demos and possibly other things as well. We've got a lot of big ideas, as usual, but for the first time that I can remember these big ideas are actually coming into fruition.
For now, here's the site: WeAreSleepover.com
I hope you all like the site when it's done. And please don't hesitate to sign up, it helps us know who's interested and we'll only use your email to let you know when everything is done, and then maybe to say hello at some point in the future. We'll have a proper email sign up soon where you'll be able to get show updates and the like.
I hope everything is going well for all of you out there.

"We all admire the spangled acrobat with classical grace meticulously walking his tight rope in the talcum light; but how much rarer art there is in the sagging rope expert wearing scarecrow clothes and impersonating a grotesque drunk! I should know." (Vladimir Nabokov) Thank you for your friendship! Musical greetings from Munich/Germany! Feel free to download my music!
