I've been thinking a lot about the current American church and how much I don't enjoy it. I mean, hanging out with people who believe the same way as you is great, but what about hanging out with people who DON'T believe and think the exact same way as you? The church is a wonderful idea. It really is. But, I have noted many flaws in today's church that somewhat reflect the church era when Jesus was alive. Wait, yes, I mean, Pharisees.
I think it's time to step back and realize that money, choirs, suits, and big steeples have become a business and another political party in this country. Instead of aligning ourselves with a certain church, denomination, or a cool-trendy-super-uber-awesome Christian catch phrase/band/t-shirt, why don't we just STOP CARING? There are more important things in this world and in the life to worry over. Arguing your theology or beliefs or who is right/wrong, never gets us anywhere.
A church is a safe haven, a place to find refuge. A church isn't your identity. It doesn't make you who you are, and it certainly can't get you into heaven. Don't align yourself with a church or place your faith in a building and in an organization. Align yourself with Christ and everything will fall into place.
Too many Christians today let there faith and belief go just as far as the front doors of the church. I think it's time to stop sitting around in sub-cultures and talking about how awful this world is and actually do something to change it. If Christians, people who follow Christ, won't do anything to better humanity, then who will?
Jesus was not a politician.
Jesus was not a televangelist.

Isn't it ironic how some Christians seem to be more hung up on going to church as opposed to being the Church?
(small-c church = the conventional, institutional church; the building where Christians gather weekly; big-c Church = Christ's body of believers worldwide)
