Ultra Sonic Edukators (USE) are a psychedelic indie pop rock band from Chicago, Illinois. USE formed in April 2006 when former members of the bands University and Speedwell joined forces. Their style blends elements of psychedelic pop and rock along with its strong British pop/rock flavor that never quite overpowers the bands sense of their American roots.
In June of 2006, USE completed their first full-length record, “Armageddon Is In My Room” (The album can be found online via the band’s multiple Myspace and VIRB pages). In July 2006, the band played Hedgpeth Festival in Twin Lakes, Wisconsin, sharing the stage with other bands such as The Flaming Lips, Kings of Leon, Phantom Planet, Hot, Hot Heat, and Primus. In December of 2006, USE were recognized by Rolling Stone Magazine as one of the 25 Best Bands on Myspace.
Over the course of a year, USE has quickly developed a devoted following within the Chicago music scene. The band has played many of Chicago’s more notable venues, including Double Door, Elbo Room, House of Blues, Schuba’s, Subterranean, and have shared the stage with other Chicago groups such as the Smoking Popes, The Redwalls, Local H, and Figdish.
Currently, the band is working on “Armageddon Is In My Room” artwork for a May 2007 release, while writing and recording in their home studio and continually playing shows in the Chicagoland area.
