I took this footage with my Nikon Coolpix, as I was walking home. You'll see everything from tourist, to illegal immigrants selling illegal goods, nuns, pigeons, dogs... it's a little shaky though because I was trying to walk fast to capture as much as possible in the short amount of time the camera would allow. Unfortunately, the camera did not pick up any sound, which was a huge part of the experience of walking through these streets. This particular video is the walk down Borgo San Lorenzo which goes along side the Duomo, and then I turn down Via de' Gori. The street turns into a huge tourist market place during the day, and I had to walk through it every day to get to my apartment, which was at Borgo La Noce, No 01. If you're a people-watcher, this is the city to be in. I miss living here, and would do anything to be back there again.

Ahh, Firenze! I got to spend but a single day there on my honeymoon 10 years ago. We loved it. I had the best salad. And gelato. And I think you walked past the marketplace where I bought a tie. Best tie ever. :P

Very nice slice o' life. Seems very much a village sensibility though such a venerable city.

I did go to the Uffizzi, but I didn't think to take video. I probably would have been kicked out, but it'd be worth it!
I long to go back as well. I know my way around the main areas of the city. *sigh*
One day...

I stayed in Firenze for 3 weeks. It was supposed to only be two, but I "missed" my fight back to the States. I've been there four times, I love that city. I did so much walking I had to go to the Camper store and buy some shoes. Firenze in May was so delightful. Gelato, Vespas, churches (Jesus is very popular in Italy) and art and food and oh man... I am getting the jones 2 go back!!! Damn you Jina! I'm broke! I can't go! Nice video though. You got a nice sampling of Florence. Should have run through the Uffizi!

well, I was walking fast for two reasons: I was trying to get as much on camera as possible before the video stopped recording. Also, having my attention on the camera, I had to walk fast to help avoid being robbed/"pick-pocket"ed.

A city for people watchers you say? Hmmm, may have to book myself a trip there sometime.

Awesome footage, even shakey. My wife and I walked down the same streets just months ago. I even bought a beanie because it was a little cooler than we expected it to be. We loved all of Italy and we stopped over in Firenze for two days, the museums were amazing!
And the gelato there was the best in all of Italy!
