Got a new piano piece up, Wildflower. I've been working on some new vocal material as well, which should be up in a while.

This whole VIRB scene isn't as movin' as I thought! Don't really do much on here.

I thought I might write a little about my music. All the songs on here are home recordings, and my friend Matt takes care of the vocals on quite a few of them. I am currently in college studying jazz composition; composition is definitely my focus throughout these pieces. I could write a little bit about each song, I suppose. How about that?
Alright (Home Again) - It definitely looks more professional when one writes a second title in parentheses after the first. Credit to Matt for the lead vocals and congas on this one; I did all the background vocals.
Peanut Butter and Jelly - Matt acutally wrote the first minute of this song, and sang it as well. The massive choir is him and me multi-tracked many times. I wrote the bluesy section, with Matt doing the semi-scat lead and drums.
Cell Phones - This piece resulted from a couple of very unusual progressions I came up with on piano, especially the first: C minor, Db major, G# minor, B7. I added the round section and it worked out nicely. Matt did the drums.
Help Me Out - Probably the strongest true collaboration between Matt and myself. He sang the verses and I sang the chorus. He also played the drums and came up with the bassline on the verse (which I think is one of the strengths of the song). The guitar solo came out very well and was done in one take.
On My Journey Home - Matt and I wrote this together, with him mostly coming up with his lead melodies and me working on the backgrounds. He sang almost all of it; I did the bass part on the final section.
Hymn - This is a simple and brief but beautiful late 19th century style piano piece. I may one day do more with it, but it stands well on its own.
Wildflower - A combination jazz/classical piece that makes use of the 3/3/3/3/2/2 division of 16 beats. Some cool chord changes going on as well. As with the hymn, I may one day do more with it.
And maybe leave a comment or something if you listen. Thanks!

I have created a VIRB account. We will see how it pans out. I am not stressed or tense about it, but if I were, I suppose I would be...VIRB tense?
