I travel now almost perpetually. I've just returned from Europe and a six week tour, and preparing for three and a half months back there again this summer. I am planning each fall to continue my 4KneesOfTheTurtleTour around the states. Last fall was 15 weeks, 26 states, and 65 concerts. In the past two years alone I have played in the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Italy, Greece, Portugal, Ireland, France, Canada, the States, and Mexico.
I feel most alive when I am in motion, and it's necessary to stay awake to stay alive, traveling reminds me of this everyday. I'm constantly making new friends, hearing new music, seeing old friends, involved in vibrant communities, helping connect communities and individuals.
I think it's crucial to the cultural health of our planet for musicians and artists of all varieties to travel as much as possible. I feel it is my responsibility actually.
I had given three years of my life awhile back to grassroots politics, now I realize that traveling as a musician is really the best way for me to benefit my fellow humans and everyone else too, and I encourage others to do it as much as possible as well.
This world, this country in particular, is getting darker, I feel that I owe my sanity to the varieties of communities around this country and other countries I've visited. It's amazing that we all keep going, and it is inspiring to know how vibrant, despite the constant onslaught of mass marketing and hostile local and federal politics.
Life, Tholle
