Biography
This Misery Garden, based in Geneva, Switzerland, formed during summer 2005. After been involved for 3 years in the critically acclaimed French metal band, "Zuul FX", guitar player Laurent felt the need to consecrate himself in a project that would express his own sensitivity and to explore new musical horizon. During long sleepless nights, he begun to compose emotional music filled of both clean and saturated guitars, influenced by bands ranging from Tool, A Perfect Circle, Katatonia, Filter, to Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin.
With some material in hands, Laurent decided to contact Ben, singer of Sybreed, with whom he collaborated some year ago. Then, Ben agreed to integrate this project, bringing a new dimension to the Laurent's songs. Few months later, bass guitar player Jay, comes to widen the concept with his musical vision and knowledge. Last but not least, drummer Stephan, ex-Learned and Oyate, joined the combo, providing the rythmic parts, so much important in this kind of music. This way, the project becomes a band which promised to seduce rock's fan eager of sensations: Groove, floating atmosphere, samples, catchy lead guitars and melodic voices feed the spirit of "This Misery Garden", several emotions stand above the heads of listeners, such as a melancholy soaked up with power, anger defying serenity, completing by a glimpse of hope persistent and illuminating their music.
A 2 tracks EP for promotional use only shows an overview and potential of "This Misery Garden". However, the musical spectrum of the concept is definitely orientated in live performance where the effort will be to offer an extended dimension compare to the record session, moreover the band's member get some lives experiences to the international level.
