The Hellfire Club of Belfast was established in September of 2005 as an attempt to stitch old blues and folk together using laptop patches, amplifiers and electricity.
The bands dark electric blues and murder ballads have been played locally (Northern Ireland) on BBC Radio, and Nationally (UK) by Colin Murray on Radio 1.
Their irradiated patchwork of nostalgia, superstition and gothic romance has also been acclaimed by the Irish Star where they were described as "... promising to become the biggest band in Ireland."
Two EP releases have drawn comparisons with the Archie Bronson Outfit and Robert Johnstone, and inspired reviews like 'On this evidence the Devil really does have the best tunes'.
Earlier this year ATL TV comissioned The Hellfire Club to make a video for their song 'Dead Mans Funk'. It was broadcast on the BBC in March of 2007. In the video the band are shown playing in silhouette in a world of dead trees and cemetaries. We look forward to seeing it on NVTV and No Clarity later in the year.
The bands marriage of electric junkshop blues, acoustic folk, laptop instrument patches, stomping drums and dark themes has seen them perform in the main venues of Belfast including 'The Limelight', 'The Empire Music Hall', 'Queens Student Union', 'The bunker' and 'Auntie Annies'. The band are planning a series of acoustic gigs across Belfast later this year.
In 2007 The Hellfire Club are recording their first album expected to be released on Culture Deluxe records in 2008.
