About
The idea to start a music label came with a simple assessment : if technology enabled new creation and recording methods to happen and new musical scenes to emerge, these breakthroughs seem to have taken their toll on musics soul and meaning. If todays computers and technology bring freedom, emotion can sometime be lost in this quest for a perfect sound. The label definitely aims at putting record craftsmanship to the foreground when facing the industrys giants, and sides with other human-size independent labels that are already home of tomorrows talents.
Third Side Records was founded at the end of 2001 by Michel Nassif, Antoine Chabert, and David Abplanalp-Estimé. Rather than a definite musical genre the label wants to defend a spirit for which the sound serves a musical meaning (Sounds that make sense, the labels motto). In 2005 the international development is a priority. A few years ago the French Touch attracted international attention on French productions, and in 2006 Third Side shows that pop music coming from France definitely has its place on the international scene.
