The Rebecca Ride

Caen, France

Billboard

English-born songwriter now living in France and recording under band-name 'The Rebecca Ride'.

The songs and instrumentals are often stripped back to basics, on such occasions offering little more than sketches for the listener to colour in. Perhaps a phrase, a musical interval or a groove might suddenly click and the imagination takes over. A piece works best when it becomes more than the sum of its parts.

I soak up everything from Ambient to Zydeco, but I guess at heart I'm a singer/songwriter who likes to think of music in terms of textures and soundscapes, as much as notes, chords and rhythms.

Released a CD mini-album on my own 'Cinematelier' label in 2005, titled 'Her Ghost In My Room' which received favourable reviews and significant interest via the Internet. This is currently unavailable.

Working on a new full-length album 'A Sky Lit With Permissions' and a DVD, 'Asymétrique'. For further details, please subscribe to my blog over on www.myspace.com/johnizzard.

Gila Bend. Perhaps your best yet although new stuff always seems to be voted better than previous. Its sounds like a cross between a spaghetti western(The geetar int middle)and dare i say a Syvian or Depech b side although it stands great on its own.Do you want to produce a version with sporadic vocal strewn through it ? In a sort of *there he is again)Sylvian style. The cover and title of the new album is fitting to the music which just gets better all the time.Damn you for choosing the band name and album !! Dying to hear the finished product.Oh and yes your picture looks great but hey get some sleep my man ok ?
