The seeds of The Conversion State were planted a number of years ago when Dan was attending a leadership and spiritual development program called "Ascent" in the fall of 2002. It was there that Dan met Brandon and the two began writing music together almost immediately. As time progressed Dan went off to the University of Calgary to study, Brandon began studying at the Nazarene University College and the two continued to play music together. Through a church connection Kevin, the most excellent drummer, joined Brandon and Dan to worship together. In February of 2005, at a camp retreat, Billy was seen, playing an electric guitar, by Dan (Count how many commas there are in that sentence). The Conversion State (named in the summer of 2005) was born. Since that point the Boys have been blessed with a wide range of opportunities to play and lead worship. In December of 2005, after some prayer and searching Cheri was added to balance out all the testosterone in the band. The Conversion State has been blessed to lead students @ Gull Lake Baptist Camp at the SR. Teens camp, fall leadership retreat and the college and career retreat. Most notably the band had the opportunity to open a show at the University of Calgary for Riley Armstrong (www.rileyarmstrong.com). The band has served along side the Starfish cafe, Altadore Baptist Church, Brentview Baptist Church, Bonivista Bpatist Church, West Side Kings Church, First Baptist Church, and Southgate Community Church. The band also lead worship for the 2005 Western Canada Campus Crusade for Christ winter conference, I know it is a mouthful.

The Band Name:
The Conversion State, the name for the band came out of a realization of sorts. Sometime we tend to think that there is one point of conversion in our Christian lives, when we 'say the prayer,' but in reality we are always in a state of conversion. God is never finished with us that is why we call ourselves The Conversion State

The Conversion State Today:
The band is committed to honest worship, something that is sometimes lacking in our churches today, and believes that God can use music in powerful ways if we are willing to be honest with him. The State wants to bring honest worship befor God as an offering to him every time they play. The band plays music that is reflective and powerful mostly aimed at a youth and the young adult crowd. The State plays selections from starfield, third day, hillsong united, delirious?, coldplay, jars of clay, as well as other well-known worship songs and their own original tunes.
