hi. i'm tanya. my interests are listed below so i'll skip repeating all that here. since this is an online profile....

i use a mac and run firefox, often with the pimpzilla theme. i have a clean, organized desktop with rotating pictures of art in the middle, plus color coded folders on the right. my blog is on livejournal, i do have a myspace profile, and i believe google can do no wrong. it would be a sad world without gmail or youtube. i prefer imagecave over flickr, bleep over beatport, stylus over pitchfork, idontlikeyouinthatway and the superficial over tmz, flac over mp3, sarcastic blogs over informative ones, ichat or im's over phone calls and skype over audio chats. podcast subscriptions include xlr8r, kexp, hospital records, and city soul radio, and i get news from afterdawn, slashdot, and countless magazine websites. simplicity in design is a principle that i admire and anything blinking should be banned from the internet. i think it's fine to listen to music for free but that you should buy what you end up liking, because it's art and the artists deserve to get paid. and while i love being online, i love being offline and having fun even more. ; ).

Interests

fun, dancing, anything that's visually or audibly interesting, MUSIC and ART - all mediums, camping &; being outside, learning new things that i like, finding the beauty inside of everything, good sound systems with proper bass, macintosh computers, people coming up with things you never thought possible and making it work, ice cream, the smell of rain, handmade clothing, sushi, underground music esp. hip hop and dnb, movies but not scary ones, meeting new friends, google, interesting conversations, meekus - the cutest cat ever, herb, coconut mango sticky rice, vinyl toy art, breakdancing, soccer, and baseball - watching not playing, laughing, good times.

anything that grabs my attention and makes me move or think. i have mad respect for people who make their personality shine through in the music they create and don't just stick to one style - original ideas strongly encouraged. also props to those who a, performers or djs. i am constantly learning about new music and it's the best.

i'm a sucker for a deep bassline and good beats, purr for well done sound systems, have frequent crushes on bleeps, clicks and glitchiness, and am starry-eyed in love with live electronic music production. good songwriting, talented vocalists / singers / bands, and experimental music also give me butterflies. bpm range is anything from super dubbed out to drum 'n bass craziness with a good techno dose and all kinds of things in between.

My Works

i'm all about furthering the creative. i try to do my part to encourage artistic projects in a variety of mediums, and it makes me happy at the end of the day... however late that may be.

[backline media]

the term backline generally refers to everything a live musical artist/group will need on stage when performing that is not part of the 'sound reinforcement.', all the loose ends the artist doesn't deal with. i recently started my own little side project, called backline media, with the same concept in mind – my services encompass basically whatever the label, artist, crew or collective i'm working with doesn't have time to do themselves, mainly from a pr/promotional standpoint.

to get more specific, i handle bookings for lusine and kate simko, i'm responsible for communications efforts for the decibel festival and kupei musika, i work as a publicist for local events and also handle press for various releases not on kupei, most recently for a project with ghostly international. website coming soon.

[mercurycloud]

i also have a more established career in the advertising industry. i work full time at a design firm named mercurycloud, as an account executive, project manager and new business assistant. in other words, i'm equal parts cheerleader, mom, drill sergeant and banker, ; ). mercurycloud does mostly branding and fabulously well designed interactive projects, all featuring simple, easy to use back-ends and clean, simple code. bless.
