studio grey is a protools recording studio based in charlotte, north carolina. we have good mics, great plugins and incredible editing and mastering capabilities. our rates are very affordable as well. we can help with anything from a basic demo to top quality label releases. feel free to call or drop an email for more information.

studio grey is owned and operated by christopher kincaid. christopher is a producer, engineer, musician, singer and songwriter who has been recording and performing for over a decade.

hourly rate....

$35 an hour for setup, recording, mixing and mastering.
$45 an hour for live recording in the studio.
recording on location rates vary.

payments....

payment for the flat hourly rate is due after each session. production packages are to be purchased, in full at the beginning of the recording, unless negotiated otherwise. to receive your finished project, your balance must be paid in full.

punctuality and cancellations....

arrive on time. your session starts at the scheduled time agreed upon by studio grey and the band. the clock starts even if you are not present. if you are running late, please call. if for some reason you have to cancel a session, notify us at least 48 hours in advance. if you do not do so within 48 hours of your scheduled session, a fee of $50 will be assesed.

working at studio grey....

we have a very comfortable and laid back environment to work in. there are to be no illegal substances on or near our property. there are two different types of recording that go on here; an individually tracked recording and live recording. in a tracked, or layered recording, we concentrate on each individual instrument, one at a time. this process usually starts with the drums, then moves on to bass, guitars, keys, programming, sampling and vocals. this insures that you get the sound you want out of each instrument and voice. live recording entails the entire band recording at the same time. this is, of course, a faster way of recording, but you tend to lose some of the quality of sound in the final product. we prefer a layered recording, as it is a true display of what we can construct. when you bring your project to studio grey, it is in it's most raw form. as we work and brainstorm to figure out the best sounds and most creative ideas for your music, we become a part of your sound, as do you, become a representative of studio grey's craftmanship. when you leave our doors, we want you to have in your hand, something you can be proud of. we will work to the best of our abilities to make that happen.
