silicon records was created in 2001,
at that time it was intended to be a pioneer in online distribution of music,
allowing the public to choose the tracks they wanted to buy and download directly to their computers, remember this was before itunes...
we started promoting the label in summer 2001 in different festivals across europe, at that point we where also researching artists to represent and it became clear that it was a little too soon for them to trust an online distribution format only label, so we decided to prepare a debut release compilation to get ourselves established among the artists and the public.
we where preparing to release the compilation in christmas 2001 when the global industry collapsed in general (post 9/11) and in the music business in particular.
during the following years many record label have been gone and it has been very difficult for new ones to establish themselves.
in 2002 we decided to keep the commercial side of the record label in standby and invested the following years focusing on some more technical aspects of our music:
production, equipment, musical and groove tendencies, etc.
still keeping an ear on the dance music community,
we witnessed several dramatic changes and interesting facts:
while some mainstream music was getting quite underground electronic influenced,
an increasing demand of dance music in the mass media (tv commercials and shows, movie industry) is influencing the public musical habits,
electronic dance music IS the mass music of the future
we have our own vision of the music of the future
in silicon records we call it
hi tech music
Trance / Progressive / El...
Progressive / Psychedelic...
