Taking huge influences from film music, jazz, fusion, electronica, hip-hop, trip-hop, classical, deep house, Latin, French lounge, reggae and other groove based genres Sharif's music takes on a multitude of emotion and range. With the obvious dance and electronica influences he tries to integrate different musical elements and sounds into the (at times) melancholic and often funky mix of his music.

"Different things drive and dictate my music when writing. For example 'Endless Summer' was written at a time when was I feeling very depressed and lonely, I had just broken up with my long term girlfriend and it just happened to be at the beginning of summer. At a time when your meant to be feeling happy, going to the beach and getting drunk with your mates, but I couldn't wait until it was over. Things are much different know though." -Sharif D-.

Sharif has become re-known around the Brisbane dance/electronic-gigging circuit as the 'sax man' (also performing sometimes as a keyboardist) jamming and adlibing with a large host of Brisbane's top DJ's. He has been playing around for a few years now and has played pretty much all the major dance and lounge venues in Brisbane (majority with the other dance group ie Dope'n'Dusted), Gold Coast and a few clubs in Sydney. But few actually know him as a song writer/ producer. "Its something I've kept on the down low for a few years now and thanks to the Internet and myspace I have come out of my shell a bit."

Seduced by the earlier sounds of Massive Attack ("Protection", album) Sharif found a deep fondness for the slightly more down-tempo, warm but darker edged sounds of the Bristol trio. Also fascinated by the mixture of acoustic and electronica/ sampled based music blended together.

He's currently in the process of writing an album made up of a lot of old and new material from his growing catalogue. Incorporating a variety of different styles from Downtempo/chillout and soul to a few party tunes, some ambient tracks and even some pop numbers its hard to pigeon this growing artist. Writing, performing and producing all the material (excluding some samples, guest vocals and other players where credited) he's kept very busy and is always keen to learn more about music every day.
