Putting poverty out of business Dec 31
The Salvation Army in Canada finds practical ways to make a difference. Christmas is a time of excess for many--an abundance of food, stacks of presents and overloaded credit cards, all in the name of celebrating the season.
But for thousands of others, Christmas is a sea...
I'm Steve Peterson, (Lead Singer/Guitarist) of "BY FAITH" in Jacksonville, FL. and my life has been renewed by the love of the Salvation Army. I was homeless and seriously addicted to crack cocaine to where I lost my house, cars and trucks, my granite business, and MOST DEVASTATING the rights to see my kids....I was ready to die and wished for it daily. I entered the Salvation Army's Adult Rehabilitation Center (A.R.C) in Oct. 2006 and recieved God's loving message that He loved me and had a plan for me. I was such a living disaster when I came in and about 40 pds. underweight and so messed up I could hardly speak coherent sentences from the drug use I was in. I gave my life to God because I was ready to take it, so I figured why not just give it instead. I began writing songs and playing guitar again, in the chapel at the A.R.C. in Jax,. and GOD then formed a band of Christian brothers around me to reach to the lost and homeless of Jacksonville. 3 of the 6 band members are graduates of the A.R.C. and we still work here too. Jeff Blanchard (bass player) and Steve Peterson (me) are Salvationists (soldiers) at the Jax. Citadel Corps and we are also praise musicians for the corps, bringing in a new upbeat Christian Praise Music to the Corps. God healed us for this purpose through the Salvation Army to let the lost know that HE is more relevent than ever. Our site is www.byfaithband.com if you care to read our tesimonies and listen to our music. GOD Bless Us All. "We are Doing The Most Good".
