My only request is.... rocks. Rocks found in Arizona- Quartz in it characteristic crystal form has a hexagonal shape. In cross-section it has six sides. Commonly the ends of quartz crystals are teminated by six-sided pyramids. This type of crystal form is seen in the picture of quartz above. Also seen in the picture are the fine striations across the crystal faces Also known as K-spar, or orthoclase this mineral is usually light cream to a salmon pink in color. Although color is usually a good indicator of some minerals, it should not be used as the basis for identification in most cases. Most pink feldspars are potassium feldspars though. A good way to distinguish between potassium feldspar and plagioclase is to look for striations. Striations are found on many clevage planes of plagioclase feldspar, but are not present on potassium feldspar. Olivine is a magnesium-iron-silicate. It has a glassy luster and is yellow green.
