Formed in Columbus, Ohio, Riddley recently moved to Los Angeles by way of upstate New York. Just as the band has taken a geographical journey, their label debut, The Quick Goodbye, shows the personal voyage undertaken by songwriter Drew Stedman. Singer and guitarist Stedman started the indie rock band in 2000 while living in the Midwest. When he left for college in Nyack, New York, Stedman continued creating music. With the town’s university students and proximity to New York City, the area proved the perfect environment for Riddley’s live performances. The band’s raw energy and brutally honest songs resonated well with the dive bar crowds of Manhattan. ------------------------------------- While living in Nyack, Stedman recorded The Quick Goodbye, which was produced by the label Sideshow Media Group. The company also produced the music video for “Note to Self,” one of the album’s standout tracks. The themes of spirituality, betrayal and relationships run throughout The Quick Goodbye, reflecting Stedman’s own life. Though a single person recorded all the vocals and music, The Quick Goodbye goes beyond the standard singer-songwriter boilerplate. This album features layered instrumentation and vocal harmonies that ad great depth to its catchy melodies, which are at times both romantic and haunting. Stedman may cite influences as diverse as Pedro the Lion, Tool, Radiohead, and Johnny Cash, but Riddley’s music is much more than the sum of these musical parts. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- In summer 2006, Stedman moved across the country. With the addition of guitarist John Christopher, bassist Steve Smallwood, and drummer Areck Kakoussian, Riddley continues to thrive on the West Coast. The band played their first show in LA to a packed house at the Red Buddha Lounge in Hollywood. The Quick Goodbye is available now from Sideshow Media Group. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bio by: Kimber Meyers
