We woke up and went to the Five Spot for breakfast again. That place has the best Bloody Mary's and also some kick ass breakfast. I highly recommend it to anyone in the Seattle area. We got in the car and went over to F&M's hotel to pick up some of their equipment and then headed out of Seattle to the tunes of KEXP. We gave a phone interview to Ben from Jezebel Music, as we are the Featured Artist of the month. After that, Shansby played us the new Radiohead album. We gave it a good listening, although it put our Uncle to sleep. We arrived in Portland in the late afternoon and went straight to the Doug Fir Lounge to soundcheck. If you have never been to this venue and you live in Portland, you must go. It is like the Log Cabin from the future. My theory is that they built it in the future and sent it back to the present so that every cool kid in the state could have a super spot to chill. We checked and then went over to my friend Brian and Lauren Creany's house. They have been living in Portland for a couple years and Brian is famous for being a Soapbox Derby Champion (amoungst other things). We got a tour of the house, took a walk and relaxed for a couple hours before going back to the Doug Fir for some Buffalo Burgers. Pretty tastey, but the Bullet whiskey we drank was better. We met up with a couple more friends and had a big dinner.
We went on at 9:30 on the dot and rocked it. At first, our friend Katie was the only dancer, but soon, everyone started getting into it. Our friend said that they were happy that the usually reserved Oregeonians dropped their inhibitions and had some fun. Thats nice to hear. We recorded the show from the soundboard, so there might be a live album coming out soon, but then again, there might not be. We had a great show and almost everyone had a good time. There was one guy who told Shansby that he didn't want a CD because I said "Thank you Seattle!" at one point. Geez, doesn't a guy know a setup when he hears one? Fujiya & Miyagi kicked the crowds ass that night. We had set them up, and they knocked 'em right down. It was awesome. The rest of the night we spent at a local bar with our friends, drinking cheap beers and talking about the good old days in the Roaring Ninetys.
