Sin City B.C.

OKay. So we got in to Canada. We had a little burp getting over the border because I look kind of like someone who is up to something. And I am travelling with Uncle Rubin, and if I was a cop, I would arrest him anyway just for being an uncle. It was nothing compared to Fujiya & Miyagi's 2 and a half hour long stay at the border, so its almost not even mentioning. We rolled into rainy, dark Vancouver, aka "Sin City." For those of you who don't know, Vancouver has decriminalized prostitution and marijuana, so although they aren't technically legal, the law turns it's head and lets these things slide. We checked into our hotel and got pretty and headed over to Richards on Richards to soundcheck since F&M were stuck at the border still. We got there, and it was us and the sound guy Fife. This guy was crazy. He used to tour with Tina Turner and Brian Adams back in the day and he was jaded and nuts and wouldn't shut up. Rubin and I tolerated his madness, but I was hungry so almost everything this guy said went right through me like nails on a chalkboard. We finally finished with him and F&M showed up so we left to get some dinner. We had japanese tapas which was pretty tasty. Great fucking tuna, oh and their menus were those old Time-Life books you used to have as a kid about strange things. Mine was titled, "Utopian Visions." I read it a little but it was much more interesting when I was 12. We went back to the venue and waited around to play, talking to the people in the crowd and also the guys in Fujiya. Then we played. The room was pretty sparse when we started and everyone was hovering along the walls and on the balcony. The balcony people looked really cool from stage, because there was this part that was basically right above my head, so they were right on top of us. The light guy was doing some cool stuff too, so it was a fun stage to be on. As we played, people got more and more loose until some girls came right up front and started dancing. This made other people come forward, and by the end of the show, everyone was bopping around and having a great time. We didn't play "Brooklyn" for the first time in a long time, and I only felt a little bad about it because its always rainy in Sin City. As soon as I got off stage and changed shirts, I went out onto the back steps to sample some of Vancouvers finest marijuana. And boy was it nice. Fragrant, light, and not overwhelming; it was the best pot I've smoked in a long time. I stayed outside for a while, talking with the guys and enjoying my high. Then Fife came out and he was much more bareable on weed, and his stories even became somewhat interesting. But only somewhat. Fujiya & Miyagi went on right after that, and I was excited. I have seen them a lot over the past couple months, but I had never seen them stoned, so I got right in the middle and rocked out. It was a great show! The energy was great, and they were so close, it was very intimate. In fact, at one point during "In ONe Ear, OUt the Other," Matt looked over at me in the audience with my stoned ass and shit eating grin and actually started laughing and was unable to sing his part. I even saw him do it, and this only made me smile wider. Halfway through their set a girl came up to me and asked me to sign our album for her. This didn't seem strange until 8 or 10 people came over asking for the same. But hey, these kids were siked and so was I. The night ended fast after that and Rubin and I decided to walk around and find a bar where we could grab a beer and relax, and nothing was open! Sin City indeed! This is a Tuesday for crapsake! Where was the debauchery?! We didn't know so we went to sleep.
