BAY AREA MC POACH STEVENS RELEASES NEW ALBUM With WAR CHANT/ CTC RECORDS
Bay Area MC Poach Stevens brings his debut solo entitled WERK to the masses this summer, courtesy of the War Chant label AKA Citrus To Citrus Recording Group. WERK is a true Bay Area hip-hop record: packed with fat beats, big hooks, and plenty of tongue-in-cheek verses about Poach's life as a fulltime Macy's employee, devoted dad, and talented rapper.
Poach has opened for the RZA, Ghostface Killa, San Quinn, Company Flow and De La Soul,and was showcased along side the likes of Rass Kass, Eminem, Talib Kweli, Souls of Mischief, Thurstin' Howel the 3rd to name a few on the Lyricist Lounge tour. He has done frequent work with the Rondo Brothers, his vocal talents and songs used in commercials, movies and video games. He recently has worked on projects as both vocalist and producer with Bay Area heavy hitters J Stalin, Kaz Kyzah, Stevie Joe, Ike Dola (Keak Da Sneak's Farm Boyz) Tower, Ashkon, PZ and DJ Fresh (Nas, Common).
His collaborations with Bay Area producers Rondo Brothers have landed him film placements (featured spot in Ice Cube film "Are We Done Yet") and YouTube sensation Ashkon (Hot Tubbin' video reigns at over 500,000 views) appears on WERK.
Poach Stevens the self proclaimed "blue collar poppin' average werkin' class joe" is anything but average. Often compared to Atmosphere and the Black Eyed Peas, he bobs and weaves flawlessly around tracks with underground grit and pop sensibilities.
