Phono's influences are rooted in the musical genius of artists like Nine Inch Nails, Stabbing Westward, David Bowie, Aphex Twin, The Beatles, Depeche Mode, Enigma and so on.
"My music is about my life, my past lives, and about the life I have yet to live." says front man Joe Ashton. Phono's industrial beats, instrumentation and harmonic vocal melodies create contrasts that express dynamic emotional qualities. Phono creates music with the intention of taking the listener on an emotional journey.
"There is a point in the processing of emotions where feelings transform and take on new characteristics as they deepen and expand." says Joel, Phono's x bassist. "We call this transformation a 'change over'." While Phono's music is not a substitution for good psychotherapy or personal journeys into more awareness, listening to Phono can provide a cathartic experience, especially if you're one who likes to turn up the volume! Phono's first album, Dementia, is available for purchase at local music stores and live performances. Phono's second album, The Change Over, is due to be released in early fall. History:
Phono was formed as the brain child of one man Joe "Phono" Ashton. Very young learning all the instruments he could get his hands on, he excelled in music. In 2002 "Dementia" Phono's first album release rocked Salt Lake City and surrounding areas. "The album was a journey into the depths of my life experiences at that moment." Says front man Joe Ashton. "It was a very dark place, with fragments of happiness popping up here and there." Fast forward to 2005, Phono's newest cathartic creation "The Changeover" is completed and can be purchased by clicking the link below"Buy NOW".
"This album is going to change people's lives, the passion and emotion of this incredible journey into the processes and downfalls of life will seriously Fuck YOU UP!"
The Changeover is sure to please with it's many genre's twisting through an ever so familiar phono structure. The incredibly orchestral "Will I Alone Be To Afraid" to the heavy destructive influence of "Drinks and Drugs", and the poppy "Hyper Catcha Goo Goo." What's a hyper cathca goo goo? I guess you have to get the album to find out.
