Peterloo Massacre formed when, in the backroom of a gig in Manchester, Paul offered to remix some of Kin's songs. Following one session, two new songs and been produced as well as the improvised method that has written all Peterloo Massacre's material to date.
The name came a bit later and emerged, not so much as a political stance but to commemorate its historical origin Peterloo Massacre and the city in which it occured.
The bass sounds of Colin were elected early on in the bizarrely smooth progress of the band, adding to the already present mix of electronic, jazz and folk landscapes that Peterloo Massacre have the tendency to produce.
Our debut EP is out NOW
Their self-titled debut EP showcases the band's deft ability to span multiple genres and make it look effortless. Peterloo Massacre are Paul Green, Colin Fry, Howard Jones and Kin - they blend 80's electronica with 90's indie, trip-hop and contemporary folk. In result they are guided by the highly unique vocal lines of Kin through surreal synth-based soundscapes. They have been compared to Massive Attack, Thom Yorke and Portishead and have shrugged off the indie electro-pop zeitgeist in favour of something more cerebral and are all the more seducitve in consequence. The e.p includes a remix by the acclaimed beatmaker and arranger Robert Lippok. If new sounds are craved then Peterloo Massacre are making them loudly. Their 5-track debut sees the light of day as a CD under the guise of anorakism 002. .

"This is sparse and thoughtful stuff; Peterloo Massacre have pared their sound down to the bare essentials, dispensing with frills and frolics to find the emotional nub of each tune, making them beautifully dramatic and very compelling. With a little more adventure, something truly special could spring from their already brilliant minds."
