Raj Ojha - Drums, Percussion, Programming, Keyboards, Computers, Internets, Happy Smiling Faces
OKR (Raj K. Ojha) combines live drums, keyboards, found sounds, horns, guitars, and other elements to form, dissect and educate himself about music in his bedroom. Inspired by music ranging from Autechre to CAN to Black Sabbath to Mort Garson to Magma; OKR attempts to create a instrumental, electronic and rock amalgam reminiscent of progressive rock and fusion of the seventies coupled with contemporary elements of electronic music. He is currently putting a a live band together to play some renditions of these songs live (with less electronics than on the recorded versions).
OKR has done remixes for The Roots Of Orchis, Deerhoof and Run_Return. Recently he has played drums and produced beats for Rapatron and is a former member of the group Run_Return.
You can purchase the run_return album, Metro North at the iTunes Music Store.
He has also been playing and collaborating with Carta, who's second album should be out this year.
You can also catch him laying down some stank steak with East Bay Grease.
He also feels weird writing about himself in the third person.
Here are some bands that I have played shows with, playing drums, keyboards and laptop in Rapatron, Run_Return and The Why Because over the last few years.
Tortoise, Trans Am, Fog, Boom Bip, Har Mar Superstar, HIM, Daedelus, Talk Demonic, Rubber 0 Cement, Numbers, Jel, Subtle, Bitcrush, Mice Parade, The Lovemakers, Bonobo, Honeycut, Isotope 217, The Roots of Orchis, Call and Response, Experimental Dental School, Bunny Rabbit.
Here are some video clips from the only show I've done with a live band at the Santa Cruz Big Bang, Underground music festival, (sorry about the sound, it's all from the in camera mic).
Videotaped by my friend Joe Stillwater.
with...
Joel Robinow (Drunk Horse) - Guitar, Trumpet, Rhodes, Juno
Andrew Seger (Rapatron) - Guitar, Bass
Andrej Hronco (ZSATAN) - Saxophone, Vibraphone, Percussion
Raj Ojha (OKR) - Drums
When are you touring Europe? Seriously, there are some fascists about with clubs and knives, but there are also greeeat people who also smoke 'splifs' here, which I think you will think is just rich, and the Keralan dosas are to DIE for in my neck of the woods.
