"It's not been easy livin' up here. Eight-three feet above sea level- high over the Meadowlands. All different scenery now. Blinking red lights in distant rows - towers of radio's past. Smoke stacks intimidate even from afar. In my concience and in my memory I've adapted. I return from the railroad to a distorted neighborhood of restless mumurs. Pre-dawn shreiks of steel rings through streets and empty lives.

Three years pass and the grim facts are persistant and apparent. Despite the progress, most of the time it's like I'm livin' in slow motion. Distractions and counteractions in the real world feed back to me. Is this really solid ground? The air ain't good. There are nine hundred-fifty some-odd local industries of chemicals, power generation and freight yards.

It all somehow gets into the music."
