Art of Flying Ttibute "Attempt" Nillacat #58 Jan 5

Nillacat Records has recently released a tribute cd called Attempt. It has covers of Art of Flying songs by an array of musicians, most of them from Portland. It's beautifully made, with handmade artwork. The renditions are bold and reverent at the same time, and go in different directions. One is bound to like some of the covers more than others--covers are risky in that way--but they're all interesting to me, and some are downright thrilling. It's great to hear so many different takes on the songs, and as I listen to it more I start hearing the covers on their own terms. It's a moving tribute to a brilliant band. ---frog-swans and swan-frogs
