HOW I GOT MY DEVIL BACK (PART ONE)
Debut 7" released 31st March 2008
Download released 14th April 2008

In recent months, New Adventures have been gaining new fans and plaudits (most notably from the lips of Sir Steve of Lamacq on his Radio 6 show) the length of the country following a punishing schedule on the road. Now, having taken stock and put the finishing touches to another triumphant studio session with Richard McNamara at Magnetic North Studios (The Moths, Thomas Tantrum, Opera House, The Ads) they're back at home base, mindful that their first official release is nearing gestation. And boy, it's a whopper.

"How I Got My Devil Back (Part One)" is not your ordinary, throwaway debut single. It's a pure, five minute distillation of what this band do that is so special; creating a performance out of a sentiment intensely intimate, speaking on about global feelings on a personal scale; speeding comets of joy and sadness dovetailing together. It's a slow-burning symphony of a record, one that leaves you scarcely able to believe the vinyl's grooves can contain such a spiraling galaxy of sound.

Written during a particularly difficult time in the band's history, "How I Got My Devil Back (Part One)" was nearly victim of their stringent quality control and consigned to history after a muted live outing. Bassist Raph saw the song differently and insisted that they give it another reworking. All of a sudden it became imbued with new spirit, the final, defiantly hopeful refrain was added and its message rang loud and clear. "It's to do with not feeling sorry for yourself" explains Jez, and sorry is the last thing you'll feel by the time the second chorus kicks in and any lingering cares melt away in the twitch of a smile.

On the flip-side is the live favourite, "Something Amazing", a paen to escape and spreading one's wings, "I often write songs looking out of the window pining for open spaces and the natural world, feeling quite claustrophobic and like I'm missing out on all these brilliant things going on outside", says Jez.

"How I Got My Devil Back (Part One)" is released on limited edition 7" on Faded Grandeur, the band's own label, on March 31st 2008. Every 7" features a unique hand written code enabling free digital download of the release from New Adventures' website.

The single is released digitally a fortnight later on April 14th 2008 through the usual digital retailers. The digital release also includes the video for "How I Got My Devil Back (Part One)".
