'Another way' is the first full-length album of Nebula 3, the one-man project of musician and producer Israel M (Guadalajara, Mexico), who also runs the electronic label Abolipop. This stunning album works as a double sided mirror due to it's new wave/new romantic flavored songs, but at the same time Nebula 3 found the way to put all these heavy influences in an actual musical context: detailed production, digital processing meets classic instrumentation and song craftsmanship; abstract lyricism with a pop twist!. A very personal approach to the synth-pop era. Israel M works like a modern glam paladin in mexican modern music, his deep voice blends with Roxy Music-esque guitars, heavy bass-lines and drum machines creating an elegant, intense and powerful spectrum of emotions. Diego Martinez (Lumenlab) and Esteban Testolini (Movus) collaborate in the album as well as Ruben Tamayo (Fax) behind the mixing board. 'Another Way' is the perfect summer album for night and day indeed.

"The influences are quite clearly defined in the bio, listing "synth pop, new wave, indie rock and ambient pop." The repeated 'pop' reference is significant, as this is clearly music where song and structure take precedence over sonic experimentation, the focus of some of his alter-egos. Under these terms, the album has much to admire. Martinez's strength lies in establishing bittersweet beds of live bass, guitar, electronic percussion and synths over which he can lay wonderfully melodic lead instrumental or vocal lines. There is an intentionally limited palette of sounds which gives the album a consistency. There is a constant melancholy, reminiscent of Faith/Pornography-era Cure, though the sound is not overtly retro. Moody picked guitar figures are the sonic highlight, creating an ethereal tone throughout. Lyrically, he matches the mood with typically yearning pop motifs, though there is a subconscious hope in both the words and sounds that keeps the album from ever degenerating into the maudlin. At its finest moments, such as the instrumental 'Lunama' or the closing 'Viewpoint', there is an ecstatic kind of melancholy that begins to take on epic proportions in the judicious reverb washes."

"Nebula 3 went on and released this year his second work ¨Another way¨: a fusion of synth-pop, new wave, indie rock and electro. For me the song ¨So different¨ reflects this all. A beautiful track with a recognizable new wave sound, electronica and nice vocals. I don´t like comparisons, but i can´t avoid doing it. The sound of the Finnish producer and dj Jori Hulkkonen is the first one i think about. Both seem to be a big fan of mixing electronic music with new wave. The diffference is that Jori has more a focus on electronic music and that Nebula3 makes it sound more like indy and new wave."
