Level 1 > Score 0

Our generation has been dealing with computers since childhood. We have witnessed an evolution in computer processesing power, from 8 bit processors to 32 bit processors. Computer technology has grew with us. Our free time has increasingly been spent playing computer games.

Level 2 > Score 67

The aim of the mikro orchestra is to create irony in the electronic music scene with our low tech hardware and relatively simple software in a world dominated by ever more advanced digital music processing and creation technologies. A crucial decision since the very conception of this digital music project was the creation of a unique brand of music by relying solely on our game consoles as musical instruments.

Level 3 > Score 174

Since the very beginning, we strived to create our own distinct sound. We may play a pastiche every so often or use a sample from one of our favorite games, but we always attempt to make original music. We believe and try to make all of music interesting, alive, improvisational and most importantly fun.
Our nostalgia for the games of our youth is what compelled us to use our game console's to create our unique brand of music. We also keep an open mind to other forms of electronic music and remain active in other music projects.

Level 4 > Score 251

We use elements from archives and current pop culture, what in relation to peculiar choreography of our concerts (no move at all) create a kind of an anti-performance commenting quasi avant-garde attempts to place electronic music on the stage next to the spectacular concerts of pop stars. We are also inspired by the aesthetic of 8 bit computers and old school games. Kitschy setting of our performances is purposeful, however it would be a mistake to perceive it as a mean of any ideology.

Level 5 > Score 287

From a musician's point of view a game console device is a kind of simple analogue synthesiser, with a raw and at the same time interesting retro-sound. While connected with a suitable software it can be used as drum machine or groovebox. Consoles interface is rather poor (few buttons only), so sound structures created by us must be rather simple, too. This is also the reason for having 3 players - the more players the sound environment is more complex. In the context of music untypical interface of game console helps us achieve intriguing results.

Level 6 > Your score 367

mikro orchestra is an experimental sound - visual project, basing on the use of game console as a music instrument. Main assumption of project's authors is to create new sound space on the base of tones generated live from console during the performance.
Group is active since 2001, currently with three players.
