Nelson here...
One thing I've always hated about the net is the lack of appreciation or in this case, not crediting original soures--not from joe six-pack and his blog--but from credible, mainstream sites.
The cuplrit: Comingsoon.net.
If you go to this page they posted today, you'll read about CS having a raffle or something in which you get a chance to win tickets to see Transformers on IMAX. Then, on the last sentence, they mention that there will be 2 extra minutes.
Now, where could've they gotten this information? Maybe they knew about it and posted it a while ago when the press release for the IMAX showing came out.
So I went and did a search on their site and lo and behold there is no mention of the amount of the extra footage (read here their first report about the IMAX showing). No mention of the amount of of extra footage becasue at the time, as told to me by Bay, the inclusion of extra footage was still up in the air.
So, on the 5th of this month, I contacted Bay and confirmed the inclusion of 2 minutes of additional footage. Just read the post below this one.
In defense of CS, they've credited this site in the past in other stories.
I know mistakes happen (I've been guilty in the past), but this is not the first time I've seen sites do this.
Bummer.
One thing I like about the tech and political blogosphere is that most of the sites credit properly and even credit the source that found the piece on some other site. Sometimes, this goes 5 links in 'til you hit the original piece.
