VIRB

Birds chirping; a car drives by
White noise.
The silence screams out
Embracing me ina warm hug.

"Where have you been my friend?!"
It says to me.
"I've been missing you."

"Oh my dear silence," I reply.
"I've missed you so much too!
But I didn't know--didn't realize...
I get so caught up
In the drama of the noise
I forget you are there
I forget how much I love you!"

Silence sits awhile
Patiently waiting, facing me
Looking me square in the eyes
As is his nature.

I flitter around with my excuses
And my nervous quirks
And patiently he continues to wait.

"I've been here all along,"
He finally says.
And he envelopes me

"I didn't think it would be the same.
I fear you sometimes.
So faithful, so intense."
I blurt out.

"Yes, I know," says he,
Ever so softly.

"I'm here for you. I love you.
And I will help you
To stay focused and make good choices.
Don't stay away so long next time."

A tear falls from my eye,
"Yes, my love."
