You can't get everything

A person who I worked with said this to me a while ago.
"When you try to do something, you will be able to do it - maybe almost anything"
I said, "Really ??? Wow I'm flattered." Now I think I shouldn't have felt that way.
Later on, another person I work with mumbled in a little bit frustrated manner -
"I'm capable of almost anything I do, and in fact I thinks it's unlucky in a way, because that will become a sort of obstacle for your lifework decision making. Everything you do is finished halfway."
Right, you can't get talented in all ways. And if you still want it and wander around, then you will notice that you lag far behind in each field.
Mmm I wanted to be an all-time lubber then.
