Painted this, "Storm's Eye," a few days ago. To me it's like Christ coming on the waves toward my boat. The calm and witty mystery, the focal eye in my story-storm. The eye of a hurricane has been a recurring theme in my art, ever since my family and I lasted through Hurricane Andrew with its 185 mph winds. The house we were huddling in fell apart, except for the hallway where 9 of us sat. After about 3 hours of shrieking winds, it all died down. The sun came out, stillness reigned, and we all walked outside, thinking the whole thing was over. Not for another 3 hours. We'd only experienced the eye of the storm, as large as the horizon end to end. (16x20 acrylic on canvas, Aug. 20, 2007)
Colin J. Campbell says:
A powerful memory burned theme to be sure. I like the description of Christ coming on the water.
*sigh*
