Brown is no stranger to the world of music. Growing up in Chattanooga, TN, he began his music career in numerous venues at a very early age. Eventually at the age of 17, with much encouragement from his family and friends, he left home to pursue his music more passionately and seriously.
Brown eventually moved to Nashville and quickly snagged a record deal as a member of a full time band. Two bands and two record deals later, Brown came to the realization that bands, though still fulfilling his artistic needs through writing and performing, are very difficult to succeed in. "Depending on other people to have the same commitment as you and more importantly, the same passion as you is extremely difficult to find, especially when it comes to art," says Brown. "Sometimes you just have to be yourself with nothing added to the mix." Brown is now pursing his solo career with enthusiasm for the future, always keeping an open mind to what may come.
Brown notes that very early on in his career, he began writing songs. Though in the past, he didn't always acknowledge the most important aspect of what makes a remarkable artist. "Writing a great song is your ultimate connection to the fan-you gotta have a song people they can relate to--that they want to listen to over and over again, with a hooky melody and a significance that cuts straight to the heart."
Brown now writes fulltime for My Good Girl Music/Sony ATV, and enjoys writing for other artists while he continues to work on his own artistry. With co-writes ranging from Danny Wilde (the Rembrandts), Regie Hamm (Maxi Priest, Bob Carlisle), Barry Dean (Martina McBride) Luke Laird (Carrie Underwood) and Wayne Hector (Rascal Flaats, James Morrison). Brown has enjoyed the professionalism and significance of writing great songs with legendary writers.
Brown has also signed exclusively with one of the top booking agencies in the country: APA. So while Brown enjoys his time at home in Nashville, he can't stand to stay away from the road for long. Something in him just naturally hungers to be performing and doing what he loves. "I'm really anxious to get back on the road, I love giving everything, my heart and my soul in a show. I'm never satisfied unless I leave with nothing else to give, whether it's full band or just me and my acoustic, there is nothing like it!"
This kind of passion, dedication and work ethic has birthed the undeniable buzz hanging around Brown's name in Nashville and beyond. It will only take a short encounter with the music of Luke Brown to see that by virtue of finger-on-the-pulse songs and powerful live performances, he is beyond the hype and in the here and now, to stay.
