Timeless songs and a contagious youthful optimism are the foundations of Wisconsin raised, Brooklyn based, Locksley, who have achieved more as an unsigned band than most major label acts will in a career. Their recently released album Don’t Make Me Wait received a 4/5 from Alternative Press who also named Locksley one of the best unsigned acts in the country. The band was honored as “one of the 25 best bands on MySpace” by Rolling Stone and the songs "She Does" and "Don't Make Me Wait" were licensed for two Payless Shoes national television spots. MTV quickly recognized the band’s potential using Locksley’s “Why Can’t I Be You (Why Not Me)” as the theme for a new show on the network. The video for the song (funded by MTV, a first) beat out other major label artist’s videos in MTVU’s the Freshmen, based on fan votes, and was placed in rotation on MTV and MTVU, making Locksley the only unsigned band with this distinction. The band has already completed two full US tours and one UK tour, playing with OkGo, We Are Scientists, The Dandy Warhols and The Rapture along the way. Their video and their song "Don't Make Me Wait" currently appear in the national AT&T/Cingular commercial and the coming months will see increased Locksley appearances, opening for The Rapture in February, in a Sylvania commercial, performing on various late night shows, in an 8 page ELLE magazine photo layout, and as a featured artist in SPIN.
