Im writing a blog about indie bands i like. I get to play alongside some pretty awsome acts these days and often meet cool people on the road who i just wanna support and tell people about! I had been doing a podcast 'my indie australia' but i found it hard to keep up .. i didnt have the time to keep scouring the net to find mp3's let along do the recording and editing at home. So alas it has gone unattended for a fair while now. I havnt entirely abandoned it but for the moment...blogging seems a hell of a lot easier!! Im getting my head around the 'file storage - hyperlinking' thing and hope to be able to soread the word and the tunes about some of the more awsome acts in our blossoming aussie music scene.
You see... Antiskeptic has always been an indie band. We never got the support, finance or promotion that other acts received and had to do it the hard way. By networking and travelling, emailing, promoting and doing as much of this stuff ourselves we made money to record and release our music. Admittedly we had help from an indie label and they played a role in getting the music out there and linking us to the wider music industry.... but even they didnt have the support, finance or promotional capacity to get us further than we had done ourselves. It comes down to people working with people. If you love the music, then you tell your mates, if you love the music you go to the shows, you bring your mates, you buy the records...you make your mates buy them too!! This is just how it works. And it does.

I wanna be one who helps others hear about bands whilst doing a bit of that buying, supporting and spruiking myself!!
