After playing in far too many funk-hip-hop-indie bands Jonathan Morton decided to quit them all and focus on recording and creating his own music. The songs stumble a little and do not like to follow their own instincs. He tries to let everything from Ligeti to Matmos to Howe Gelb find some sort of foothold.
He began playing music aged 5 when his mother taught him some basic piano, then came the French Horn and tours of Norway and Europe in Wind Quintets and orchestras, then he discovered the bass guitar and the joys of the indie band.
He moved from band to band, frustrated by the lack of creative ambition or the limitations of style....
Then he bought a digital 8-track and began making things in his bedroom when the neighbours were out...
This is what came out...The 10 tracks here are from his work-in-progress album 'Threadsuns' and are all free to download and share...More will be uploaded soon.
He is also a photographer and writer with some poetry in a number of magazines, reviews scattered around and contributions in '1001 books to read before you die'...

A gig of such brilliance I am almost at a loss for words...
Joanna Newsom Jun 5
Joanna Newsom and her album 'Ys' have been my most stunning discovery of the year...I have totally fallen in love with both her lyrical brilliance and her uniquely shattering voice. And I wish I had learnt to play the harp as a kid instead of the French Horn ;-)
Estuary
It reaches, a grey arm that rejects the bay, leans out from beaches grown over with the knotted coil of sedge and marram, while cold fingers dredge the river's depths and come up empty. On slate steps a couple stand as the sky perfects its sleight-of-hand trick to turn the crack of light and sea into another memory. Through them the weight of wind banishes thoughts of each disciplined, bungalow-spent day, their bodies grow straighter as the waves recede. And there, at the place where salt succeeds in slipping to the shore and leaves its trace written in white and grit, there they stare at every tide-turned page lying darker than the one before, and blurring as they read.
The image bites through a barren screen, is seen only by expression, by a binary gift laid out in perpetual birth. There is blood, earth, a childish hand. The rifle points out of frame, is leading many others. Between us is porous but breathes only one way, it speaks its own deafness. I am reaching somewhere behind, I bring you nearer, but still un-wakeable, it is always no better.
One of my favourite scenes from the most beautiful and astonishing film ever made: 'Mirror' by Andrei Tarkovsky. This film literally change my view of art and life. Such mastery of film and the elements...Fire, Air, Water and Earth all together in one extraordinary shot..

I mix it up. Sometimes if I wanna knockout something quick I'll just use Reason, then throw it into Logic or Pro Tools to fatten up the sound. Depends on what result I'm tryna get.
