All that we do here at Light Gives Heat is simply a response to the hope we have been shown. We are a group of twenty-somethings desiring to live intentionally outward. Through the Suubi(hope) project we offer a consistent income through the purchasing of necklaces hand made by women in an otherwise unemployable area. Suubi is based just outside of Jinja, Uganda in a small town called Walukuba/ Danita. The majority of the women are widows and have been displaced because of an over 20 year long war that has directly affected their tribe. Along with a consistent income throughout the week we offer literacy classes, English classes and soon to come; computer classes! Our second and certainly just as important goal is to call, us in America, outside of our "small worlds." We don't desire for American's to simply be a means to an end, but an end in themselves. In all that we do, we want to communicate our story well in the hope that others want to live intentionally outward and realize their potential to change the world. Through all of this, we have come to realize that "hope is always a choice!" To learn more go to www.lightgivesheat.org or www.suubiafrica.org

Thanks for what you guys are doing. It is easy to be discouraged, but I love your line - "Hope Is Always A Choice." Great reminder to us all.
