WELCOME FRIENDS!
Blake Morgan and Graham Liddell began playing together in late 2003. Their first band, Silhouette, featured Blake on keyboards, Graham on guitar and some other school friends. After playing a few small shows and writing a some fun songs, Blake and Graham became more serious about writing music. They started to explore the darker, more complicated aspects of life. Silhouette disbanded as the members moved on to different schools.
Over the next year, Blake and Graham spent their time in basements, studying music theory and developing their technique. They broke off into separate bands. Blake played in a jazz band with a drummer named Teddy Roberts, and Graham played with a classic rock band he created with his friends.
In 2005, Blake and Graham began playing together again as an acoustic duo called Knockturne. They became well know for their performances at local coffee shops such as The Foggy Bottom, Java Jim's and The Plymouth Coffee Bean.
Knockturne acquired Matt Ryan on bass and Teddy Roberts on drums in 2007. Blake also won first place in the 2007 Michigan PTA Reflections competition with a song he wrote called "Autumn Mist". Knockturne performed this song at the award celebration. Knockturne, is more musically innovative now than ever and is currently working on their studio recorded album, "Knock, Knock".
The name Knockturne has a double meaning. Nocturne is a musical term used to describe a composition appropriate to the night. It also reflects the spiritual heart of this group. "For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened." Matthew 7:8. It is Knockturne's belief that the One who answers our knock with the turn of a handle is our salvation and a vital necessity to our life.
