WELCOME FRIENDS!

Blake Morgan and Graham Liddell began playing together in late 2003. Their first band, Silhouette, featured Blake on keyboards, Graham on guitar and some other school friends. After playing a few small shows and writing a some fun songs, Blake and Graham became more serious about writing music. They started to explore the darker, more complicated aspects of life. Silhouette disbanded as the members moved on to different schools.
Over the next year, Blake and Graham spent their time in basements, studying music theory and developing their technique. They broke off into separate bands. Blake played in a jazz band with a drummer named Teddy Roberts, and Graham played with a classic rock band he created with his friends.
In 2005, Blake and Graham began playing together again as an acoustic duo called Knockturne. They became well know for their performances at local coffee shops such as The Foggy Bottom, Java Jim's and The Plymouth Coffee Bean.
Knockturne acquired Matt Ryan on bass and Teddy Roberts on drums in 2007. Blake also won first place in the 2007 Michigan PTA Reflections competition with a song he wrote called "Autumn Mist". Knockturne performed this song at the award celebration. Knockturne, is more musically innovative now than ever and is currently working on their studio recorded album, "Knock, Knock".
The name Knockturne has a double meaning. Nocturne is a musical term used to describe a composition appropriate to the night. It also reflects the spiritual heart of this group. "For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened." Matthew 7:8. It is Knockturne's belief that the One who answers our knock with the turn of a handle is our salvation and a vital necessity to our life.

BAND MEMBERS

Blake Morgan: Blake likes to perform and create his own music. He attends Stevenson High School and runs track and cross country. Most of his free time is spent writing music, or performing/jamming/ practicing with his many musical friends. Music is his passion and he takes great pride in his musical abilities. He expresses his talents through playing guitar, keyboard, drums and singing. He has played piano since he was 3 and has won many awards for music he has written including several state awards and one national award and several awards for his performances at Solo & Ensemble. He plays in several bands at school including; concert band, jazz band and pit orchestra. He is recording and playing shows with the band "Knockturne". He also leads music worship at Faith United Methodist Church and plays in the praise bands at Westland Free Methodist Church and Northridge Church.

Graham Liddell: Is a student at Stevenson High School. He plays electric guitar in the band "Knockturne". Music is one of his biggest passions in life, and he spends much of his time writing, playing and listening to it. An accomplished song writer, he often will sit for hours playing his guitar, just thinking about the confusing areas of life, and then write a song about them. The feelings of his mood and his music often coincide. Graham won an award of merit for the state level Reflections program in his freshman year for his song entitled "Soul Searching" and continues to write music for the program. In the future, Graham hopes to continue to play music in bands, and eventually have a career in the music business.

Matt Ryan: Matt is an accomplished bassist from Holmes Middle School. Since he started playing, he has played at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, attended Jazz Week at Wayne State University, and played in the Michigan Jazz Festival. He has also plays in the school concert and jazz band. He has cited Victor Wooten as one of his biggest influences, and he has had the opportunity to see him in concert and meet him. Now a member of "Knockturne", he continues to mix his own innovative style with the other members for a great addition.

Teddy Roberts: Teddy has been playing drums for eleven years and has become a very prestigious drummer and musician. At the age of nine he played for Godspell and School House Rock at the Masonic Temple. In middle school, he and Blake became friends when they played together in the school's jazz band. Teddy plays on the Churchill drum line and is also in the jazz band. Recently, he started playing with "Knockturne" and adds a wonderful heartbeat to the group.
