Biography

C'est sur un fil, en equilibre entre la culture du passe et la plus poignante innovation, que kIM NOVAk s'affirme avec inspiration entre effluves electro et dissonances rock. Ils proposent une pop habile, s'inscrivant dans la lignee post-Strokes, tout en ressuscitant avec jubilation les fantomes cold - wave des annees 80. Des les premieres notes de "Reaction" ou "Female Friends", on retrouve des sensations bien connues de la periode : grosses lignes de basse, voix caverneuse a mi-chemin entre Jarvis Coker et Robert Smith, accords de gratte claquants, batterie syncopee et mitrailleuse. Inspires, superbement actuels tout en contournant tous les effets de mode, les francais de kIM NOVAk nous prouvent avec classe et sobriete qu'on n'a plus grand chose a envier a nos comparses Outre-Manche et Atlantique..

From France, the four members of KIM NOVAK have played together since two years.
Haunted by diversified influences such as indie (from Interpol to the Tindersticks, from Radiohead to the Talking Heads), soul music and classic rock, KIM NOVAK not only sounds energically rock but also untypically ethereal. Their music is not driven by any one instrument and each song has it own sound and style which produce a melodic, groovy and electric setlist.
Through positive blog reviews like the New York's blog " Ear Farm " and their opening night off show of the French Festival " La Route du Rock " in St Malo last year, the band manage to increase their notoriety and spread their to everyone's ears, in France wich allowed them to reach the " Printemps de Bourges " short listing in October 2005.
The following year, Kim Novak signed with Talitres records and under the tutelage of the french producer François Chevallier with the contribution of Markus Dravs (who had worked previously with Brian Eno, Björk or more recently Arcade Fire) recorded their debut album 'Luck & Accident' in december 2006.
