Ken Hanson
has web standards with kapow
Ken's a ux designer with serious css-fu. There's no passion that compares to that of web standards for him. He comes packaged with divitis vaccines and a 7 browser buffet. After that, he's a sportbike enthusiast, gamer, work-a-holic and a night owl. Every now and then, you can catch him hanging up css code on the fridge.

We took a unique solution to this and went ahead and made them a CSS / HTML Framework. Guys, its sick! This thing is a joy to work with, can pump out 7 different grids with the same exact markup and a body class, has an intuitive, rounded corner module system, and we're building an abstracted library of parts and pieces to plugin to the layouts, so the developers just get to lego their way through a layout with some very simple things to keep in mind, and never have to worry about browser issues and all the headache devs feel when doing markup.

What's new Ken? Do you have a skype account? I have a sales opportunity that would be quite complimentary with web design. Anyway, send a message (so as not to post it in comments) w/ your skype name an I'll run it by you to see if it something you would be interested in. A good way to supplement your income w/ good money at no cost to you.

That was fast, thank you for the links. It is amazing how knowing the correct terminology can make a world of difference when looking something up online. What I have done so far on the Meridian Gate profile has been so much easier than when I first started working on my own several months ago. The language is making sense finally. I'm still not dreaming in CSS (haha), but I'll get there. The goal is to write pretty (girlie) code in my sleep.

Hey ken, how's life? I'm working on a profile for a friend I was hoping you could take a look at (Meridian Gate Kung Fu).The problem I am having is the left side, center, and right side divs. My issue is they don't seem to continue to the footer at the bottom of the profile. I want to change the background colors and add a border between the divs. Only the border and background color stops at the end of the last module not the end of the page. I'm hoping it is a simple fix. If not, then perhaps you could direct me to a tutorial. I put a right-side border on the left side div so you can see what I'm talking about.

Hah! I just figured it out. It's like 1:30am, but I got it nonetheless. I put the still gif in #connect ul li "a" not #connect ul li. It is the simple stuff that trips me up for days. Thanks for all your help.

Ok made it work with text-indent, but I get what you are saying about text-indent vs. padding. As for the still gif vs. animated gif...I thought I had that too. In #connect ul li I put the still gif, in #connect ul li a:hover I put the animated one. when the link is hovered upon the animated gif shows up, but the still one does not disappear. perhaps #connect ul li is not the correct div for the still one? Thanks for the comment on the profile, I think I'm starting to get the hang of designing (a little bit anyway lol).

Hey Ken, good to see your still alive. When you have a minute, would you take a look at my profile. I need some help with the connect links. I am using an animated gif for hovering, but am in need of a tutorial to make the still version (non-hover) disappear when hovered upon. Also I would like some advise on moving the image left more while containing the script to the right. I like the beard, has "Self-made" written all over it.

Thanks for the response, Sounds cool as far as your work goes. Good luck with everything. Just thought I'd let you know, your css here is pretty much the manual I use to change stuff. I've been figuring out a lot. Now if I can just work on my graphic design skills I might have something.

How are things Ken? I was hoping you could help me figure out something with my profile. I want to get rid of the words "add as friend", "add a comment", etc. but leave the link with an underline on the hover. I don't wish to add a picture, just the above. I've tried display:none, and text-indent, but that does not leave me the link. It's probably an over site, but I'm stumped. By the way, did you end up finding the new job you were looking for?
