New Zealand musician Michael Upton has been releasing music as Jet Jaguar for a good 10 years now. His music attempts to reconcile his love of soul, funk, and all manner of downbeat dance music with his equally strong passion for textural, crackling electronic business.
Jet Jaguar is best known in New Zealand for his collaborations and remix work. He has gigged with Prefuse 73, Monolake, Qua, and maybe one or two other bods... He has worked with members of Fat Freddy's Drop, The Phoenix Foundation, The Black Seeds, Paul McLaney, Module, Rhian Sheehan, and did a full length collaboration as Patio with noted New Zealand producer Bevan Smith (aka Signer, Aspen and more recently one half of Over The Atlantic).
In 2007 Jet Jaguar returned from a couple of years living in a quaint township in Japan known as "Tokyo". Before that he was living in Melbourne for 4 years. He's now back in his booming hometown of Wellington.
