We All Belong By Dr. Dog: I'm totally obsessed with this record. It's like the filthy demo for some lost masterpiece from 1970 (but in fact recorded this year). I can almost smell the oil cans and lawn mower parts from the garage this must have been recorded in. Sophisticated three part harmonies, diminished chords, textural arrangements, Beatle-esque changes, but executed with a certain sense of reckless abandon. Everything sounds muddy, veiled, desperate. In the end, it's a very mysterious effect: something so finely crafted, treated so carelessly. Highly recommended.
