I love the Sims, but I have such problems playing a family thru more than a few generations. Even cheating. Even speeding up boring things like childhood. Someday, I'm going to play a Legacy thru till the end.

Im thinking about it but leaning more towards the No side. I was at Best Buy earlier and was looking it over, there seems to only be a few items in there I would want and thats just not enough to justify buying for now.

Okay no one has anything to discuss about the sims 2, that is odd, I would be happy to only I have been without the game for a few months now, and have to live it through others at the moment :p

Do you pay for content?
Do you agree/disagree with people who redistribute files they paid for?
Do you think its wrong to charge for Sims content?
I was thinking about this today because Sims99.com got invited to display a 'seal of approval' from "The Federation for Free Sims Sites"http://www.fffss.org
I've noticed a few big sites lately displaying signs saying 'keep sims content free'.
What do you guys think of it?

I have never paid for content, I use MTS2 mainly, but if I use other site I only download their free things, not the pay ones, but the content I have made I also put on mts2 so its free as well, so I do contribute in that way.As far as redistribution, I found a celebrity sims of Jack Sparrow that was so realistic it was unbelievable, I did put it on the sims site for a while and did tell people it was not mine, but I eventually took it down because the more I got into the game, and making things myself, I realized I would not want people doing that with my content, so I do not believe in redistribution, unless you have permission to do so, like on mts2 they will say you can recolor etc but please give credit, so as long as you have permission and give proper credit then sure, but other then that no I don't agree with it, not just pay sites but even free ones, you can always give a link to an item you want someone to see. I would not pay for it personally.

As for redistribute files that I paid for, I wouldn't do that because that artist worked hard on it and it's not my place to do that.

I'm anti-pay site. I think it's rediculous to ask people to pay for custom content. What would people think if a movie-maker started charging to watch his/her movies? I can't imagine anyone thinking that would be okay. In fact, when that almost did happen a while ago I don't remember anyone thinking it was such a great idea. We work just as hard on our hobby as any other content maker.

I like to create my own too if I can, but when it comes to meshes, I can only alter them, I have not clue when it comes to creating them, so I am greatful for the free content, as far as credits I just credit the site I got them from there is no way I could even remember who I got half my content from anymore but then I don't expect to be credited for mine either, just knowing people download it and like it, is rewarding in itself to me. Anyone who creates all their own custom content, has my respect, that would be alot of work indeed.

I won't pay for any custom content. I just don't aggree with asking people to pay for those files. Ive already shelled out upwards of 200 dollars for the base game, eps, and guides, Im not going to shell out even more for one little outfit or furniture set. Using the profit to only pay for site costs and bandwidth for a personal site like that is a pretty flimsy excuse to, I run my website out of my own pocket and would never think to charge peoplel to watch my movies (Im sure I would be tarred and feathered) or download any of my skins.

hello welcome got any sim stories to tell :) I try so hard to get people talking, but I feel I fight a losing battle lately, everyone has gone all quiet all at the same time it seems, so I need to find creative ways to get people motivated :p

I've really been enjoying the added gameplay with Seasons... I make the kids to do some gardening, and it's cool, because that actually raises FUN. I wish more of the work-tasks were like that in the Sims.
I invited a few more 99ers that I know are on Virb.. Dix you should announce the group on Sims99... get some peeps over here! Actually, there are a ton of sites where we could announce.
Can you customise groups at all? The icon looks great, btw.
