Schools are for zombies. Or maybe schools are for making zombies. So glad I don't go. (didn't go.. I keep forgetting I'm finished this year.)

Hi There,
Glad to find like minds so quickly. My son and I just agreed once and for all that school is no place for him. I'm a single parent, and he's a precocious, sensitive, intelligent 8-year-old. We both love learning on our terms, but had both thought we couldn't pull it off (he likes the social "buzz" of a school environment, I like not having to hunt for like-minded day-carers while I work). I will add this group as yet another resource for support and inspiration!

Hello, hello, hello! Pleased to be the first to post a comment here. I usually say I was "non-schooled," because "unschooled" makes it sound like I had to go through some purification process (which may be true -- I did attend NYC public schools, a handful of times a year, until I was eight), but whatever you call it, I feel strongly it's the healthiest choice.
