I was once kicked out of a pet store on the upper east side for suggesting (politely, but -- I guess -- compellingly) that their clientele would do better to adopt strays rather than spend thousands of dollars for "perfectly" bred kitties. After locking the door in my face, the manager (a toothless old bastard -- litterally) called me a "girly man" -- an apparent reference to the minutes I'd spent cooing over his designer kitties. I wasn't offended so much as puzzled: why, I wondered, was this bastard working in a pet store if he was unable to appreciate my enthusiasm for kitties?

I have two white, long haired, Turkish cats. They're 7 yrs. old now, and still as awesome as can be. Marley is the boy, he's weighs nearly 20 pounds and has massive dreadys on his back, so he lives up to his name! He plays catch with mint candies in the wrapper! Bella is the girl, she wieghs a small 7 pounds and is a prissy lil bitch, but gives you a lot of love and attention. And she drools when you pet her! Check them out, I have like 20 pics of them in 'my kitties' photos!

Here is a pimping of our babies - it's a mix of Kitties and Degus together, but you can see all of our wee ones.

To break it down, we've got Kia (the very obvious tricolor) and her sister Angel (Angel is the tri with a lot of white on her and the very goofy look on her face). Then there's Deejay, who is the 10-lb fat black and white fella. He's a rescue and is the oldest of them all, at 5.

Then there's Sylvester (who is the adorable black and white one - a smaller version of his dad Deejay, who we mated with Kia). We've got pics of him in all shapes and sizes, as we've had him since birth - as we have with 2 of our others.

The nearly all-white one with the ugly-assed Abyssinian head is Luke. The little butterscotch one is Pablo, who is often in the same pics as his sister Rory (the little tiny one with the single butterscotch leg). Their mom is Lorelai. The really pretty grey one (I think he is in the most pics) with the owl eyes is Gammelting's Gandalf den Graa (or, just Gandy). We rescued him after his mommy was killed when he was about 3.5 weeks old and nearly dead from starvation and dehydration.

Then there is the grey and black one with the big eyes and all white nose who is in a lot of the last of the set... that's Kramer. He's another rescue (owners were going to put him down as there was "no room for him".

Of the 10, 8 live with us, and Angel and Lorelai live at my mother-in-law's place. Angel is, ummmm... mildly retarded (really) and was bullied by some of the other boy cats because of it, and Lorelai decided from day one that she would take a crap whereever she wanted in the house. We tried for almost a month to get her out of the habit, but it just didn't work.

Everyone, of course, is spayed / neutered, vaccinated, and ear-tattooed. :)

I only wish that at that time we had something better to take pics with. It was our first digital camera - a far cry from what we had now - so I can only imagine the cuteness magnified with more resolution.
